Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. He combines soul gospel jazz and R&B for a distinctive blend. The singer's career has taken her all over the world, from Broadway to European festivals and clubs to even her participation in the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine was born Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career playing the piano and singing in church. She went to Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training on the city's R&B scene. She became the primary piano player for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award winner) offered her the position of director of the choral section of Dreamgirls in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention due to her several performances throughout the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was invited to sing as part of Obama's inaugural ceremony in 2009.
